What is Salsa?

Salsa is an energetic Latin partner dance with strong Afro-Cuban and Caribbean roots, known for its rhythm, musicality, footwork, turns and connection between partners. Influenced by Cuban son, mambo and rumba, Salsa developed across Cuba, Puerto Rico, New York and other Latin communities before becoming a popular social dance around the world.

There are several styles of Salsa, including LA Style (On1), New York Style (On2), Cuban Salsa (Casino), Puerto Rican Style, Colombian/Cali Style and Rueda de Casino. Each has its own distinctive timing, footwork and movement style, making Salsa a diverse and exciting dance enjoyed by people of all experience levels.
